Apple only makes one case for the iPad mini and it’s the smart cover. The problem is that it doesn’t protect the back when it’s covering the screen. This is where the Slim Smart Case comes in as it has all the functionality of the smart case but with the added protection of a back panel.
Starting off with how it looks. The case is black and has a nice oft touch finish to it. It’s line with micro fibre to ensure the iPad doesn’t get scratched or anything when it’s inside.
The front is divided into three sections and has built in smart cover functionality, the sections then fold into a triangle the same as the Apple cover to allow you to use it for watching video and typing, The cover was a little stiff at first but loosened the more I used it.
Typing with the case was a breeze with no wobble at all and the stand stayed in place until I wanted to close it.
The camera cutout is perfectly cut as are the cutouts for the power and volume buttons.
Overall the case feels really well made and gets the job done. The front cover mimics all the functionality of the Apple smart cover but also offering back protection for less than the price of the official one.
Thanks to MobileFun for providing this case for review, they have a range of iPad Mini cases in many styles.
