Today was like any other, get up, shower, coffee, take dogs out for a walk along the burn (river for those English readers :-) ) for 45 minutes or so. Arrive home feed the dogs, second cup, and oh strike that, mug of coffee. Switch laptop on disaster, smoke coming out of it between the keyboard keys, laptop dies!
Horror thought, how do I write any article now? Can’t use desktop, wife works 5am till 8am and comes home and goes back to bed for 2, 3 hours. After tweets from friends who gave me ideas from padphone to galaxy note etc which I’m exploring. One of the guys reminded me of Chris @senaia1 (who only uses his Galaxy Note for writing all his articles) at this year’s March of the Droids event in Manchester. Chris has used is Galaxy Note for around a year instead of laptops or desktops. He let us see what he had accomplished and, I must say it was brilliant and this included any images. He did say that it was slow to start with but, persevered and gradually his speed increased. To such an extent that he didn’t miss the laptop or desktop. The beauty of this allows him to write anywhere, anytime even just to jot a note on about one he’s writing.
So I’ve decided to use my 2 year old Motorola Xoom tablet to write this article.
So just to let you know what I’m using, as I said my Xoom with EOS4 wingray ROM, SwiftKey Flow keyboard and using Google Drive to write and save article to, although, I have a Bluetooth keyboard that I will use on the followup article.
My problem at the minute is how to include images although I should be able to do that on the site. I keep all my images on a NAS drive but have the two in this article saved to Drive. But that aside I’ve enjoyed writing this on my Xoom and look forward to a followup article.
Note: If you missed this year’s March of the Droids event in Manchester tuff, you missed out on a great event but, next year’s event will be even better so checkout @MarchOfTheDroid and March of the Droids website
