Sorry about the somewhat cheesy title; I simply couldn’t restrain myself. Anyway, Adobe have announced that they will no longer be developing Flash for mobile platforms such as Android.
Danny Winokur from Adobe has said: ”We will no longer continue to develop Flash Player in the browser to work with new mobile device configurations following the upcoming release of Flash Player 11.1 for Android and BlackBerry PlayBook”.
Adobe will instead be focusing on HTML5 and AIR, which will eventually succeed over Flash. Adobe have even said that these are the best solution for delivering content in the browser on mobile devices. Adobe have said they will work with the HTML5 community.
Adobe have said that they will “provide critical bug fixes and security updates for existing device configurations”, so they won’t be getting rid of it just yet.
