When it comes to keyboards my personal choice is Swiftkey so, with the release of v4 I’m a very happy chappie!
SwiftKey 4 is one of the best gesture keyboard apps ever. It is so good at predicting what you type, it borders on being creepy. I can rattle off e-mails, tweets and text messages to friends about sports, movies, tech, music — and based on what I’ve typed, SwiftKey occasionally finishes sentences word by word.

This brings us nicely onto Flow. Flow is unique in that, unlike other gesture-based keyboards, it allows you to continuously swipe through entire sentences without ever lifting your finger – the company calls it Flow Through Space. So where you type a space in between each word you can now forget it so, typing ‘morninghowareyoutoday’ SwiftKey flow will automatically insert the spaces like so, ‘morning how are you today’, easy.

As you’re swiping across your phone’s display, SwiftKey guesses what you’re typing. Those guesses change as you type more letters; when you see the word you want, just lift your finger. Or, keep swiping the letters of that word and then swipe down to the spacebar for a space, then start a new word — SwiftKey calls this feature Flow. If you’re not into gesture typing, simply type as normal. The app will still give you predictions.
What’s in this version:
- SwiftKey Flow: World’s most accurate gesture input, with next word prediction
- Flow Through Space: Gesture multiple words without lifting a finger
- Personalization: More thorough learning of your language and typing style
- Better predictions: Enhanced language engine, predictions in more text fields
- Easier corrections: Tap anywhere on a word to choose an alternative
- 60 languages: Now including Albanian, Bosnian, Javanese, Sundanese, Thai, Vietnamese
SwiftKey 4 may be a free upgrade for existing users, newcomers to the keyboard can get it for a promotional price of just £1.49 for either smartphones or tablets. You’ll find widgets for both versions – as well as their trial-based counterparts – below. Happy Flowing!
Conclusion:
Using Swiftkey tablet everyday is a joy, the split keyboard is great. It’s a bit like predictive text on a mobile phone but much, much smarter. Often, it can accurately guess what you meant when several letters of a word are mistyped. I’m struggling to explain what the experience of using this is like. Just trust me and try it, it’s amazing.
