One of the drawbacks to rapidly flashing the latest nightly or, any ROM that can possibly be thrown at your device is the often time consuming task of backing up all your apps and data. Some of us may well find ourselves flitting between several different apps to backup different things to different locations.
Well now we could just have the app to solve it all under one roof, so-to-speak. Super Backup by XDA Forum Member Mobile Idea Studio aims to solve this issue. The app is a simple, yet functional backup tool that will allow you to make backups of various different aspects, all from one intuitive holo-themed interface. The app currently supports the following features (some of which will require root):
- Backup your apps and their data.
- Backup contacts, SMS and call logs.
- Backup your bookmarks and calendars.
- Manage your backup data.
- Schedule automatic backups
- Automatically upload scheduled backups to your Gmail account.
- Define a custom backup location

On my 10.1″ Xoom Tablet the app opens in the landscape view but then flips to portrait mode on tapping backup for installed apps which is a bit of a nuisance but, I soon got use to it. I believe the app has been designed solely for smartphones and maybe 7” tablets. This is a very good app with an simple GUI. One feature I do like is the automatic backup, if like me, have a head full of mince, then you will like this feature, set it and forget it. OK you have ads to put up with but it’s FREE what more do you want.
If you find that Google play store will not let you download to your device, go to the XDA thread below, and, at the bottom of the first post is the APK file for download. This will allow to to side-load it.
While you may well be able to already do all of these things one way or another, Super Backup offers a handy (and completely free) alternative to using several different applications to achieve the same result. It runs on Android version 2.0 and upwards, and you can find the APK in the application thread if you’d like to try it out for yourself.
Please, if you find this app useful thank the Dev. Mobile Idea Studio@XDA
