It’s now been three days since I got my BlackBerry Z10 and though I’ve had it I decided not to use it and wait until I could give it an absolute beating as far as the battery life and usage goes.
The Z10 has an 1800 mAh battery which, according to official specifications for the device, suggests that the batter should last Up to 10 hours talk time on 3G and Up to 13 days on standby however my experience is a little different to that.
After exhausting the initial out of box battery life I put the Z10 on charge at around 9:20am and came back home at 12:15pm to find it fully charged and good to go.
I powered the device up at around 12:30pm and used it without a break on HSPA+ and no WiFi or Bluetooth enabled. So how long did I get then?
Well at 4:35pm the battery finally gave up on me giving me almost 4 hours straight use.
When I was at the launch I spoke to a member of the BlackBerry team who told me that he could generally go a full day on medium usage (8am till about 10pm) without having to charge the phone. For me, based on my experience I would say that a medium usage would get around 6 to 8 hours at best and no where near the 14 hours the employee suggested it could handle.
You can make your own mind up on how this is but for me, I won’t lie, the first thing I’ll be getting my hands on is a second battery as this just simply isn’t enough for my usage.
