HomeFlip allows you to display and switch to recent tasks in a blink-of-an-eye using a simple and intuitive interface. HomeFlip acts as a complement of your launcher (stock or otherwise) and is mainly aimed at users that are looking for an efficient way to switch between tasks quickly without having to go back to the main launcher or having to long press ‘Home’ button to do so!.
Since HomeFlip came out in beta from last month with version 1.1 developer Nathanael Presson (leanandmean) has been working on improvements and today version 1.25b was released. Fixing various FC’s and various activation issues, on the plus side the Dev has been adding a new UI to the settings with it being divided into four sections, General, Fallback Launcher, Activation and Theme. Compared to the Old UI this is 5 star. Also a new Hotspot Swipe has been added.
How it Works:
The concept of the app is simple.Showing either ALL or Favourite apps. After launching HomeFlip you are taken to the setting menu where you start setting your options, each of the four sections are accessed by tapping them to open and close. Taking them in order General is where you can toggle left hand mode, so if you’re left handed this will be a blessing for you. There is ten settings you can play about with, although the ‘On Screen Menu’ is not activated yet. You can at the moment show either all or only favourite apps.
Next is Fallback Launcher where to set your Launcher of choice.Activation is a very nice update to this latest version. Here you can set the Home key to open the app or not. Next is the Swipe hot-spot where you can set which part of the screen activates the app, moving your finger over the section you like this, then turns yellow. below this is the hot-spot size and gesture radius settings.
Lastly is the Theme section, the first option is to get more themes, tapping it takes you to HomeFlip website. with instructions on how to download themes and install them, all very simple. At the moment there is only three themes available, links below, (but do not download them from the XDA site, use the links on the app so the themes show up in the app. The same applies to the Fonts tapping Get more Fonts takes you the FontZone website where you download the fonts of your choice, 50,000 to choose from!

I really like HomeFlip and use it all of the time. Once you have gone through the setup procedure it becomes second nature to use it. Even just changing the theme or font can give it an entirely new look. The only fault I have found with the new update is where the default hot-spot location is. If you go to text someone the keyboard key on the right do not work because of its location. Moving the hot-spot to the top corner sorted the fault out. We have emailed the Dev to make him aware of this.
Update: Nathanael replied to our email within minutes and this was his reply:
I’m currently working at the possibility of detecting the soft keyboard and allow for switching to an alternative position automatically with visual feedback.
We have given it a score of 4 because we can’t show fractions but, it really should be 4.75 it’s that good. Once the keyboard problem is fixed it will be 5 star.
Update 5th Feb – Nathanael true to his word has fixed the keyboard issue so now as we said it receives the 5 star treatment.
