App review – BBC Sports app has arrived

Well let’s start by saying if we appear to be a little bit biased then maybe you’re right, but we always try our best to be objective.
BBC Sport app for Android has, it seems been a long time coming but, well worth the wait.
If you have seen BBC Sport on iOS then you will not be disappointed.

The pages are easy to use and navigate around but I could imagine it will be awkward if you have a smaller, say, 3.5 inch or less screen.
On the home screen in the top left corner you will see a menu tab, here you will see the ‘main’ sports quick links, (this is showing on the tablet) Football, Formula 1, Cricket, Rugby Union & League, Tennis and Golf. With More sports, Around the UK and Other at the bottom of the page.
So sliding back to the main page and scrolling down you will see “Latest News” and alongside “News By Sport”, tap news by sport and choosing your sport, I’ve chosen Formula 1, you will see the latest news, with Results, Standings, Race Calendar plus a down arrow with more options, depending on your sport.

Conclusion:
Well done BBC on finally getting round to giving sports fans a decent app to use. Its almost worth my licence fee! yea, right!
One thing I must say I like the fact they have included DISABILITY SPORTS. The app does work really well smooth scrolling, news is updated. When opening for the first time on my tablet, Xoom 10.1, it did take awhile to load but, subsequent openings where much faster.
