My current daily drivers are an iPhone, an iPad mini and a MacBook Pro but I love all technology and I’m always looking to try new things. Normally when devices are supplied for review they are only for short periods of a few days so whilst we can get a good feeling of the product and the experience, the longer you spend with a device the more your opinion can change.
That’s why I will be spending a month with various devices in the future to get a better idea of what it’s like to use these devices long term. I’ll be replacing my primary device in that category (Phone, Tablet, Computer) entirely with the review unit during this period, there will be no overlapping or dual device usage at all during the month.
I’m starting with Windows 8, Microsofts latest version of it’s desktop and now tablet operating system. The laptop I’ll be using is the Asus K55A with 6GB of Ram, a Dual Core Celeron Processor and a 1TB HDD. This isn’t a touchscreen device so I’ll be concentrating on the PC side of things rather than the tablet side of things.
I’ve been a Mac user for the last several years and whilst I have used Windows 7 it was never my primary OS and the only experience I have with Windows 8 has been the limited hands on I had with a Surface Tablet back in November.
I won’t be using my MacBook Pro at all during the 30 days. The password has been changed by a 3rd party so even if I wanted to, I can’t.
I’ll be posting weekly updates about my experiences and regularly tweeting about it too. Be sure to follow me on twitter and come back here for my thoughts.
