It seems that many people don’t seem fond of HTC requiring you to surrender parts of your warranty for the ability to use your device with software you want. That’s what XDA “Senior Developer” simonsimons34 thinks and has managed to make a way which works on virtually all HTC devices at the moment.
The organisation of these tools is a little strange providing many different versions, which is a little bit annoying. Whilst the main thread calls the tool Simon’s Wildfires Utility v2, the tool appears to work on many more devices than just the Wildfire S that it was designed for.
It is built to “keep the warranty”, however I don’t think HTC would be happy with devices being returned to them with unauthorized unlocking of the bootloader and some carriers may be wary of this. But note, this does not give you S-OFF yet but it is promised to be soon as part of a universal S-OFF tool.
If you want to try it out at your own risk hit the link in the source and there is Windows and Linux versions available. If you like the tool, donate to the developer too!
