If there’s one thing we hate as Android fans it happens to be bootloaders. Worse than bootloaders are ones that are locked. They’re such a hassle to Android developers to get proper flashing done. Without proper flashing what’s the purpose of the development community?
Many OEMs have tried to help out the community and give more unlocked bootloaders but there’s still one problem. Carriers. Carriers are a huge part of this and because of all that warranty stuff and what not many carriers don’t want bootloaders unlocked. AT&T stuck their head in on the Motorola Atrix HD and angered the community.
In order to ‘meet requirements’ the device will ship with a locked bootloader according to twitter. Don’t start bashing Motorola though because they did say they will release unlock tools at a later date. For that we thank you Motorola for stepping up and trying. We in the community appreciate it.
