So we’re all familiar with Instagram and it’s success as an application. The basic premise is that you can take all sorts of pictures and instantly add a filter to them which then lets people think you took the photo in the 70’s. Which of course will confound all of the future archaeologists as they look to understand us and our culture.
Monocam is a new foray into the photo-sharing app pool. Essentially the app developer took and replicated the Gameboy Camera and created this 1-bit color camera app.
Forget trendy photo apps like Instragram: now you can take pictures in glorious 1-bit color! Snap beautiful dithered black and white pics and share them with your friends.
Spent last night making a quick #Android app. After all of the buzz (and fuss! and hate!) over #Instagram for Android, I spent a lot of time thinking about what kind of app I would make if I were anti-Instagram. I decided to make a camera app similar to the Gameboy Camera, a crappy piece of hardware that’s actually really special to me. Thus Monocam was born.
