For all those parents who have an old android phone sat in the corner gathering dust, there is now an answer for you – Kyte Phone!
Aimed at younger users (under 10 I’d say) Kytephone is controlled online by the parents. A login is created and Kyte installed which creates a playful, child based user interface that once opened the child cannot come out of.
From the online account the parent can control everything via the “dashboard”. This gives access to the app store so you can see and approve what apps are on the device, can keep an eye on calls made along with an approved list of contacts, which can be edited online and can even cheek the phone’s latest location.
This is currently free to use and seems to be a brilliant idea to introduce your child into the android/technology world with the guaranteed safety net that they aren’t going to access anything they shouldn’t.
