So after a painfully long wait for most of us Ice Cream Sandwich – Android 4.0 has been rolled out to 5% of all Android devices. This is obviously due to increase more over time but it would appear Gingerbread is still the most popular version of the mobile operating system. ICS is now on 4.9% of devices whereas early last month it was only 2.9%; this compares to Gingerbread being on 64.4% of devices! Honeycomb – tablet only – never really had a running chance before ICS was released and only has a 3.3% of shares.
Will be interesting to see what happens in the coming months as ICS rolls out to more devices, but some older handsets that aren’t getting ICS are upgrading to Gingerbread so will be interesting to see what happens!
