New images have emerged of what is believed to be BBM for Android. BBM is a instant messaging service pre-integrated into BlackBerry handsets and is probably one of the only reasons people still buy them.
From the picture we can see a few things which is odd. The debugger called “SitSLIP debugger” doesn’t show anything under Google, which seems to ponder if this is something RIM have been creating. Also, the fonts do not match with Android native fonts, so I believe that it could be just some software to run BlackBerry apps on Android. It would be a shame if this is the truth, but that’s RIM for you.
Also, looking at the status bar, it doesn’t appear that of a recent version of Android (white status bars are below Gingerbread), which if RIM is moving to Android, their developers may want to update the version their using.
Also, there is news of this new business product of “BlackBerry fusion” with this being a part of it and hopefully released sometime this year.
Does this mean that RIM are secretly trying to move off their dead in the water platform? Hopefully so!
