Yesterday Tyler posted details of Google Sim Cards showing up in Spain and he questioned what this meant exactly, well….
It turns out that Google have been handing out starter packs along with Nexus S handsets to it’s Spanish Employees (mainly Engineers). Each of these SIMs is said to be affiliated to different telecom operators in the country and engineers have been told to test out infrastructure and efficiency,
So in essence, Google seems to be planning to become a MVNO (Mobile Virtual Network Operator), which is a company that provides mobile phone services but does not have its own licensed frequency allocation or infrastructure required.
This actually quite excites me, an Android phone on the Google network, surely we can get mates rates out of that?
