Many of us out there seek to customise the look of our phones, from themes, to launchers and even custom roms but like me you might want to go as far as customising your lockscreen, even if you only see it for a few seconds. Magic locker helps you to achieve this easily. This free app allows you to effectively ‘theme’ your lockscreen, in effect it runs over and stops your normal lockscreen. In most cases the app is very fast and quick to respond when unlocking either to your homescreen or straight into an app, only issues in terms of speed is when I have had heavy background processes using up my ram.
When you first download the app and press home it will ask you to select Magic Locker (home helper) as your default , don’t worry it wont touch your launcher its just to help the app out. Once your in the app settings you get basic options mostly to there to help the app work as it should, but there are also a theme tab where you can set what lockscreen you want ( If you have downloaded any). There are a total of 21 themes on the market and some look amazing and are well polished. The final tab you will see in the app is a customisation tab where you can set what shortcuts you have on the lockscreen, if you want any that is.
So now you know there are plenty of options and customisations to be playing with, you want to know how it performs? Im happy to say it does perform well in most cases, only issue i have seen upon locking, is when using HTC Sense the default lockscreen show its face when using all custom lockscreen apps just like with widget locker it appears to take a few seconds more for it to take over and this can be misjudged as lag.
The app itself is very responsive in all cases and the theme you use does not make any difference it will perform great. Similar to how widget locker drained my battery quite a bit at times, Magic locker did have a mild effect on battery as many would expect, it is much more mild I have experienced with similar applications. Most will not notice this effect as iI personally take a close watch on my battery and app activities.
Overall I would greatly recommend Magic Locker to those who seek great customisations and find there current lockscreen either to simple or not practical. The application is made available free on the android market and many themes are made avalible free by the developer. But if you find yourself wanting to support the work of the developer there are some paid themes.
