Futuremark, a name that most people with a high-end PC know will be bringing their 3DMark series to Android. 3DMark for Android is being designed with an emphasis on providing results relevant to folks interested in gaming on their devices, and cull its results from physics tests, rendering speeds, and CPU analysis. Futuremark is looking to make a new standard for benchmarking on Android devices.
3DMark should hit Android devices in 2012 and this is what their CEO, Jukka Makinen had to say about their software:
professional grade benchmark that can be trusted by manufacturers, suppliers and vendors to provide the definitive measure of gaming performance on Android while showcasing the very best in real-time graphics and effects.
This should be interesting to see how 3DMark impacts the smartphone world from a manufacturer point of view.
