Today was supposed to be the day that we saw the unveiling of the Samsung Nexus Prime/Galaxy Nexus and Ice Cream Sandwich at the Unpacked event, but with the sad passing of Steve Jobs we saw Google And Samsung cancel the CTIA event and postpone the announcement until further notice. The thought among many is that it was simply a gesture and a delay out of respect to the loss of Steve Jobs, which is believable and plausible of course to see two big players do such a thing. Well today we saw a trusted industry insider and known source suggest otherwise as well as getting others digging for the truth.
Eldar Murtazin Tweeted today his own thoughts on whats going on and really what he thinks the delay is actually been made for and not the passing of Steve Jobs at all.
Obviously their is no sound and concrete evidence to suggest any of this is true, but i think we need to think about the whole situation within Android and Samsung in regards to the constant legal battles and lawsuits at the moment with patent litigation.
We also have the October 13th Apple vs. Samsung hearing over the Galaxy range and maybe awaiting the next result of that to wait on the outcome and see were they stand?.
Maybe the Ice Cream Sandwich Source is being fine combed over before release as it contains infringing code relating to the Oracle case or maybe features that infringe on Microsoft and Apple’s patents?.
It’s all rumours of course and that’s what we have to take them as a rumour, a pinch of salt and at the moment we have to take the word of Samsung and Google that it’s been delayed for the late and great pioneer Steve Jobs. To be honest it would be pretty sick and a bad move to hide behind the death of Steve Jobs on the premise that they could be infringing upon patents and last minute changes have to be made or awaiting other results to come.
The Nexus Prime/Galaxy Nexus is coming that is for sure, the rumour mill is churning that is for sure, but one thing is not for sure is what is to come and what we have to take is the word of the Big G and the BIG S at the moment for these in my view are based upon Android’s current situation in the world of Patent litigation with other parties.
